      @Chase-Riley Okay, I'm preparing a new Debian that just completely removes that protocol byte check and, when verbose debug information is selected, will dump the complete frame contents about once a second so we can see what is actually being received at the driver.

                    @Chase-Riley Looks like the data is stable. It just doesn't seem the protocol byte to a stable value. Very odd. But I would try a flight with it in a carefully controlled environment in case anything goes wrong. In the worst case it could go out of control and you might not be able to use the kill switch so be safe.

                        @Eric-Katzfey When getting everything tested to go out and fly I started receiving a failsafe for ESC failure. When we were working with this back in SDK 1.0 in this thread. I had the issue of the actuators tab not showing up in QGC. I can now see the actuators tab on SDK 1.1.2 however I can not test the motors and when I try to arm I receive ESC Failure message. I am not sure if this has something to do with the custom deb file like it did when I couldn't see the actuators tab.

                        I can upload firmware and params to the ESC fine. Running voxl-esc-scan.py returns no issues. Any thoughts?

                          @Eric-Katzfey I was able to solve the ESC issue. It was not linked to the Spektrum issue. After getting the ESC to function I was not able to control throttle on the air vehicle. I am able to calibrate the RC controller and set flight modes and so on. Everything seems normal until a arm the motors (testing in Stabilize). The motors arm and spin up but I am unable to change the speed on the motors with any input of the controller. I checked the Px4 RC params and all match previously good known params. I have inlcluded a snippet of running voxl-px4 -d with Spektrum sill with -v argument. I noticed there was another error with a different value and was also 32 bytes instead of the 16 bytes we have been seeing.

                            @Eric-Katzfey I am also getting my hands on a DX6e for me to test. I should be able to try that in the morning. I still would like to figure out the DX8 as well though since we already have a bunch on hand in our lab.

                                @Chase-Riley For the DX8 there are some configuration options on the transmitter. There is DSMX versus DSM2. That may need to be changed. Have you tried the different options yet?

                                    @Eric-Katzfey Here is a voxl-px4 log while testing with a DX6e this morning. I was able to bind and calibrate no problem. I am just not able to control the motors. Flight mode and kill switch seem to be working fine. So seems to have the same behavior as the DX8 with a error in the log for 32 bytes and 0x00.

                                      @Chase-Riley Huh, that still doesn't look right. When you calibrate you can move each stick and it shows properly in QGC? And listener input_rc shows the values moving properly when you move the sticks? What is the value of the parameter COM_RC_IN_MODE?

                                        @Eric-Katzfey yes, each stick moves correctly in QGC. listener input_rc shows all sticks move correctly. I have tested with COM_RC_IN_MODE set to 0 and 2 and both yield the same results.

                                          @Chase-Riley And they are mapped correctly such that throttle is on the stick you want? Can you do listener on manual_control_setpoint and see the throttle value move when you move the throttle stick?

                                            @Eric-Katzfey RC_MAP_THROTTLE is set to Channel 3, RC_MAP_YAW is set to Channel 4, RC_MAP_ROLL is set to Channel 1, and RC_MAP_PITCH is set to Channel 2.

                                            Moving the Throttle and Yaw stick while running listener manual_control_setpoint shows Throttle and Yaw changing values as it should. It also shows that Stick movement goes TRUE.
