Issues with Microhard connection and VOXL 2
-
We believe you have a Microhard add-on plugged into a VOXL 2. If this is the case, the Microhard should be providing an IP connection to the VOXL 2's CPU.
It sounds like you might be trying to use VOXL 2 as an IP tether? That isn't something we support. If you want a USB dongle as tether, you don't need a VOXL 2. You can use this Microhard USB dongle here: https://www.modalai.com/products/mdk-m0048-2

When I connect the USB dongle holding the Microhard 2450 to the PC via Microhard pDDL Carrier USB Dongle, i get the code 10 error as I explained above. The PC does not detect it properly. Am I missing something? Drivers?

@aimseis Can you post a picture of your setup?

@tom the drone is also connected to the same PC via usb hub outside of the image.
-
@aimseis which operating system is your PC running? If it's Linux, can you type
lsusb
? -
@Moderator Windows 10Pro
-
@aimseis You likely have to install a LAN7500 driver on your windows machine
-
@tom Any particular one? I have downloaded a few and no good outcome so far.
-
@aimseis We can only really help with support on linux, I specifically recommend with Ubuntu 22.04.

@tom I have just downloaded ubuntu. I have two more questions.
1.) When I set voxl-configure-modem to microhard and then default IP. I can see through the command voxl-inspect-services that the modem is Enabled but a moment later when I refresh the command voxl-inspect-services the modem becomes disabled, why is that?
2.) If a voltage over the recommended 5v enters the Carrier USB Dongle Holding the Microhard pDDL, is the Microhard at risk of being damaged at all?
Thank You

The voxl-modem service doesn't need to keep running for the entire time. All it does is a run a few initialization steps and then exits, so that's not an issue.

I'll get someone from the hardware team to comment

Per Microhard the ABS max of the 5V rail is +10% consistent with USB specs, so 5.5V.
Anything above that will risk damage to your device.
There are other components on our M0048 design that will be damaged at 6V.What voltage did you apply to this board @aimseis ?
-
@Vinny What about the VOXL & VOXL 2 Microhard Modem Add-on with USB Hub, when this is on the VOXL does this have any voltage restrictions? Also is this compatible with the sentinel.
-
@Vinny also how long to receive new parts to Florida if ordered today?
-
Hi @aimseis
When you use a plug-in board with Voxl or Voxl2, they and the plug-in board manage the input 5V and other voltages so all you need is to provide the correct power module to your Voxl or Voxl2, and the rest is handled.I'm not able to provide answers on shipping time as I am in Hardware Engineering, not shipping/production. Sorry.

We received the new parts and I am able to successfully communicate with the microhard at 192.168.168.1. How can I enter the voxl portal? I have configured the modem but the default IP does not take me to the voxl portal.
-
@aimseis Are you able to ping the voxl from your pc over the Microhard network?
-
@tom I can ping 192.168.168.1 only
