reporting a bug for cameras configuration
-
BTW,
Once I select the camera configuration, it's saved in these directories
camera_server_config_helper is done copying required camera drivers in place /usr/share/modalai/chi-cdk/irs1645/com.qti.sensormodule.irs1645_0.bin /usr/share/modalai/chi-cdk/imx214/com.qti.sensormodule.imx214_2.bin /usr/share/modalai/chi-cdk/ov7251/com.qti.sensormodule.ov7251_3.bin enabling voxl-camera-server
-
@Abdullah01 , I believe you have the correct sensormodules in place. I am looking at the photo in our documentation : https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-camera-configs/#c-14-tof-hires-and-tracking and i can see that it is not shown how the tracking camera is plugged in (connector mating orientation).
If you take a look at this configuration, https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-camera-configs/#c-11-front-stereo-rear-stereo-hires-and-tracking-d0006-sentinel , the tracking camera, when plugged in correctly, has the flex going back towards the VOXL2 board, while the hires camera (imx214) is going away from VOXL2. Even though for C11, the hires and tracking are swapped places, but the connector orientation is the same for C11 and C14.
Specifically, the tracking camera flex, once plugged in, goes on top of the CAMERA label on the flex, but IMX214 camera flex does not cross over the CAMERA label.
Please double check and perhaps you need to rotate your tracking camera connection 180 degrees.
-
I tried to rotate the tracking camera connection 180 degree, but some how if I did so, the wifi that is connected to the VOXL2 does not work.
So, I assumed that the connection is not correct,
In this configuration
We can see the Tracking camera is connected backward to the voxl direction
and this is what I didThank you
-
@Abdullah01 , ok that seems like it is correct.
Let's try the following:
- power off voxl2 and remove TOF and hires camera (gently unplug), just leave tracking camera as is, connected via the dual camera flex
- power on voxl2 and check using
voxl-camera-server -l
to see if any cameras are detected
If above still does not detect the tracking camera,
- lets try connecting tracking camera where hires camera was previously connected
- power off voxl2, gently disconnect tracking camera from the dual flex and plug it into the slot where hires camera used to be (in the same orientation, with tracking camera flex pointing towards voxl2 board)
- power on voxl2 and copy the ov7251 sensormodule for port 2 (instead of port 3 that you were using before):
cp /usr/share/modalai/chi-cdk/ov7251/com.qti.sensormodule.ov7251_2.bin /usr/lib/camera/
- you can leave the other
sensormodule
files in/usr/lib/camera
for now (no need to remove any) - then try
voxl-camera-server -l
again to see if tracking camera is detected.

Hello,
If I connect in this configuration with camera configuration (14)
it will show me no camera is attached
For connecting the tracking where the Hris is connected with camera configuration 14 as shown below:
is not detected as well.
But once I changed the camera configuration to 4 which is for tracking and Hris
the tracking is detected as shown below:

The second part of copying the sensor module is not clear. What configuration should I use?
If you noticed I have two issues:
1- the camera configuration (this post)
2- the ESC issue (Other postis there another direct way to communicate with you directly?
Thank you for the support and fast response
-
My issue now is how to connect the tof with the above configuration.
I chose the camera configuration 4 and this is why they work, but if I chose configuration 14 which is with ToF it wouldn't work
-
Is there any update?
-
@Abdullah01 , now that you have both cameras detected (tracking and hires), just plug in the TOF sensor in the original place where it worked before (power off when connecting / disconnecting cameras).
Also double check that
/usr/lib/camera
has the following filecom.qti.sensormodule.irs1645_0.bin
, if not, you can manually copy it from /usr/share/modalai/chi-cdk/ folder (search for it). Then just try
voxl-camera-server -l
again -
the issues is that the configuration in this case is 4 where it detects only Hris and Tracking.
I added the file to the
/usr/lib/camera
directory./usr/lib/camera/com.qti.sensormodule.irs1645_0.bin
and still, the ToF is not detected, and tried the command
voxl-camera-server -l
and here is the output, only detected two cameras.

@Abdullah01 , OK this is strange.
So it seems like all the cameras are functional, because originally you were able to detect TOF and Hires camera, but not tracking camera. However, now you can detect hires and tracking but not TOF.
I am not sure why this is happening. Are you able to do a clean install of SDK 1.1.2 and follow the same configuration option as you originally tried (TOF + Hires + Tracking). Make sure to plug the cameras as instructed here : https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-camera-configs/#c-14-tof-hires-and-tracking
