I've recently acquired a Sentinel drone and would like to add to the current setup a 4k camera pointing downwards and a USB sensor, for which I have a few questions:

    1. Which 4k hires camera does the Sentinel have on the front and which do you recommend from the modalai store?

    2. How could I connect this additional MIPI camera, considering the default Sentinel configuration?

    3. Would using an MCBL-00022 cable connected to the J11 USB3 port on the 5G modem be enough to have a USB 3 port to use USB devices on the VOXL 2?

I still need an answer for this, before I can make a decision on what to buy. I was asked to post these questions here when I first contacted through ModalAI email.

        Hi @Andre-Moura
I'm from HW, so I may not be able to answer all of your questions, and if someone else from SW needs to respond, hopefully it's for small additional details.

We have our MIPI camera configs supported by Voxl2 posted here: https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-camera-configs/
I apologize I do not know what config your Sentinel is. We have various options, so I expect yours is one of them listed.
We strongly recommend staying inside the supported and posted configs since these are very hard to change by end users.
If you look down at the numbers like "C11", "C3" and such, that is what your Sentinel drone is set for. eefbf4c4-60a3-41b4-b4ac-1faf5532ff02-image.png
Please refer back to your original order number and look for that tag in your order part number to help confirm.
The specific sensors are listed here: https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-camera-configs/#155-supported-sensor-hardware-ids and we have several of them with links to our store.

Your last question is easy (it's a hardware one 😉 ) and the answer is Yes. MCBL-00022 will expose a USB Type-A connector for you and can support many devices which have Linux driver support. That port is capable of 1A on VBUS so it can support a wide variety of devices that require more than 500mA.

Hope that helped and I apologize for the delays in our responses.

@Vinny Thank you for your help!

Our configuration is C11, which has 6 sensors.
However, in the technical docs (here), it says "Sentinel - A comprehensive drone reference design with (...) support for 7 image sensor concurrency".
So, is there any other configuration with 7 image sensors? Is it supported? An additional camera pointing downwards would be very helpful for our use case.

            Hi @Andre-Moura ,
I'll have to ask @Adrian-Hidalgo to help you for that question. I want to make sure your post gets some visibility but it's venturing outside of my roles.

We do not have that 7th image sensor supported yet in a software configuration. You cannot really add a new image sensor to the Sentinel.

These are the current supported camera configurations: https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-camera-configs/
