I originally wanted to ask if ModalAI planned on making faster 5G drones. The Sentinel is a powerful drone but isnt as fast as needed for our project. I poked around and see the Starling 2 (max) has 5g modem support too - awesome! I'll have a few questions wrapped up in this post. I appreciate you guys getting to all of them,

Is the starling 2 modem the Sierra or the Quectel?

The documentation for the Starling 2 is much more sparse compared to the Sentinel, or perhaps I am missing it somewhere. I know some other drones were recently sunset. Is this any indication the starling is on that path as well? Does ModalAI plan to support the starling and sentinel for the forseeable future? Or is the sentinel a more stable platform moving forward?

Re the sentinel, I see the speeds as 10/15 m/s depending on the mode. What is "dash" mode? Also, what are the wind restrictions for the starling?

    Thanks

I can quickly answer that one... we no longer carry the Quectel Modem and are sticking with NDAA compliant versions going forward.

I will let the rest of the team answer your other questions.
      Thanks!

The Starling 2 and Starling 2 Max will be supported for the foreseeable future. The Sentinel is less popular, so it is likely to be deprecated in 2025 but is currently marked as "Active Production" on its website

Dash speed, or burst speed, is the airframes capability when full throttle is applied for a short period of time. Batteries are typically able to discharge more current when first applied, but not for a sustained period of time.
