VOXL Mini 4-in-1 ESC: old/new mixed in a shipment (?)
-
Hello,
something weird happened with parts of a recent shipment of some "VOXL Mini 4-in-1 ESC".
The updated M0129 are suitable for 6s, as stated in the forum and docs.
I provided 6s power to one Mini-ESC from that shipment. It worked well.
I provided 6s power to another Mini-ESC from that shipment. This blew the ESC.
I was wondering but did not check further.
I tried the same with a second Mini-ESC from that shipment and it blew as well.
I checked the blown ESC-Minis, they stated "Lipo 2S-4S" at the bottom.
I check all other ESC-Minis, they also state "Lipo 2S-4S".
Weird, but to be expected (FAQ): https://docs.modalai.com/voxl-escs/faq/#q-i-have-a-m0134-6-esc-6s-version-however-the-marking-on-pcb-states-2-4s-which-specification-is-correct
From looking at the PCB I can not say, if I received (outdated) 4s-version or updated 6s-version.
Most probably I received some outdated 4S versions of the Mini-ESC? Something got mixed up?I am confused,
- how do I know if it is 4s or 6s version (there are no stickers)
- how to get the 6s version (which I ordered)
- how to replace the destroyed components
Please advise. Thank you

Can you please send a picture of the damaged ESCs? Which component blew up? Also what do the labels on the ESD bags from those ESCs say?
The 6s version of M0129 (mini ESC) should have a small label on the white 4-pin connector that says either -63 or -65 (meaning 6S and either 3.8V or 5.0V output for VOXL2 mini or VOXL2). We can also check using the serial number (label should be present on the ESC)
