VOXL board stuck in EDL mode – alternative way to enter fastboot without USB expander?

My VOXL board is currently stuck in EDL (Emergency Download) mode and I need to flash the OS . Normally the board can be switched to fastboot/emergency mode using the USB expander, but unfortunately I have lost the USB expander that came with the kit. Because of this I cannot use the usual method to enter fastboot mode.
Is there any alternative method to force the board into fastboot mode without the USB expander? -
