Longer MIPI cables
-
Hi everyone,
I am looking for longer 26-pin MIPI cables than the ones sold on the ModalAI website (https://www.modalai.com/collections/cables-1/products/mcbl-00084?variant=48956821602608).
Unfortunately, the replies from the contact email would only direct me to the HDZero website, where they only offer 20-pin cables there, so those won't fit.Any chance someone could point me in the direction of where to obtain 200-250mm cables?
If necessary, I would also consider buying custom made cables, however the technical documentation link doesn't have any entries... (https://docs.modalai.com/cable-datasheets/#mcbl-00084)Thank you already in advance for your time and support!

Hi @smiley
There is with near certainly that long of a length will fail to work, hence why we do not offer them.I have not updated this brief in a few years, but the technical content is still relevant to the Coax cables and our latest sensor line:
https://storage.googleapis.com/modalai_public/modal_drawings/How long can I have our image sensor cables.pdfHope this helps explain it.
Thanks! -
Hi @Vinny
Thank you very much for the reply and the link to the brief.
We would want to use the longer cables with a Flir Hadron. The adapter board we bought from you already came with 180mm cables, but unfortunately this is just a bit too short for our drone.
Since this is shipped with such long cables, I assume there are no issues with the bitrate/length yet at 180mm.Do you know if this setup (Hadron with your adapter to J8) was tested in your lab with longer cables than 180mm? Any chance you could provide us longer cables at our own risk?

Edit: if you don't have longer cables, where could we buy them?

Hi @smiley
We don't offer longer ones and we have not tested them.
Sorry I can't be of much more help here.Usually in this situation, I suggest our customers to go and challenge their Mechanical and Industrial Design Engineers to better constraint image sensor placement in the drone given these fundamental constraints.
