      Hello, I would like to order the boards/connectors for integrating the FLIR Hadron

      M0159
      M0181
      coax cables between those the boards
      M0155

      However, I can not seem to find them on the store.

      These boards are also referenced in these docs: https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-hadron/

          @wilkinsaf Hi,

          Is there a CAD model for the M0181 and M0159 boards?

          Thanks.

            @h3robotics

            The M0159 has been replaced by M0202, which has identical functionality but slightly smaller outline to fit the Hadron better. M0202 will be officially available shortly.

            Here are the CAD files:
            M0181
            M0202

              @Alex-Kushleyev I am trying to package the M0180 hadron board with VOXL 2. Just to confirm that the M0180 board is properly plugged in the VOXL2 as shown:

              flir-hadron.png

              If yes, can the M0180 board be trimmed (horns snapped off?) as shown in red for better packaging?

              Thank you in advance for your reply.

                @h3robotics , yes this is the correct orientation, if you wanted to connect M0181 to VOXL2 J7 (not M0180, i think that was a typo in your question).

                Here is the reason why the mounting holes do not line up:

                • the M0181 board was originally designed to better fit when connected to VOXL2 J8 (when J6 and J7 are used by M0173 camera front end), then the mounting hole in the tab will line up with the mounting hole on VOXL2 next to the power connector. However, using J8 is not yet officially supported (needs to be tested).
                • You could still connect M0181 to VOXL2 J7, but the holes do not line up well.
                • When using M0181 with VOXL2 Mini, the mounting hole (the one that is not in the tab) will line up with the Mini's mounting holes.

                If you really need to connect M0181 to VOXL2 J8, we could explore this, but i would also need to know what other cameras you are connecting to VOXL2 (and if you are using M0173 camera front end), just to make sure there would not be conflicts with other cameras.

                Alex

                  @Alex-Kushleyev first of all, I really appreciate the support ModalAI - and specifically you guys, provide. It really means a lot for a team that is moving fast.

                  There are two independent configurations we are targeting with VOXL 2:

                  • dual camera configuration with M0155 on J7 (with IMX412) and M0155 on J6 (with some tracking camera), OR
                  • Flir Hadron configuration with M0181 on J7 (or J8 if it is easily doable).

                  At this stage, we are not planning on any additional camera with the Flir Hadron configuration.

                  I hope this clarifies our use case a bit.

                  Thanks.

                    @h3robotics , you are welcome!

                    Actually I already tested the Hadron data flow via J8. The only change required is to use the kernel variant 1 (which is designed for M0173), but you dont actually have to have M0173 installed. Besides the kernel change, just use appropriate sensormodule drivers for Boson in slot 4 and ov64b in slot 5.

                    Do you have enough information from the above description to try it or do you need more details (how to install kernel, etc).

                    Without any other cameras there will be no limitations, but if additional cameras are used with hadron in J8, there will be some limitations. I will document soon.

                    Keep in mind that for the other use case (IMX412 and tracking cameras), if you are not using M0173 camera front end, you will need to use the kernel variant 0. Just one more thing to keep track of 🙂

                    Alex

                      @Alex-Kushleyev thank you for confirming that the Flir Hadron will work on J8. Would I be able to get it working using the documentation here: https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-hadron/

                      For the kernel, I have never looked at it. I see that there is documentation on kernel building etc. I will go through that and see if I can get things to work; otherwise I will reach out 🙂

                      Now that you mention that M0173 and M0181 both need kernel variant 1, and M0155 need kernel variant 0, I am thinking of ditching M0155 board, and just sticking with M0173 board for configuration 1 and M0181 for configuration 2.

                      Thanks.

                        @h3robotics ,

                        Yes you should be able to test the Hadron on J8 using the instructions from the docs page (https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-hadron/) -- just make sure you use Boson sensormodule 4 and ov64b sensormodule 5 (and camera IDs will still be 0 and 1 respectively, if there are no other cameras attached / detected).

                        At this point you do not need to build a custom kernel, just need to use kernel variant 1 because it enables independent camera support on J8 which is needed for Hadron. Please note that you would not be able to use our standard ucoax camera on J8U because the camera reset signal is still not correctly patched through to J8 (which would require a kernel modificaiton). But in Hadron use case, camera reset is not used (both the IR and RGB camera are always on, so it happens to work out 🙂 ).

                        I agree, it may be more convenient for you to switch to using the M0173 camera front end, so you can use a single kernel variant and also this would be a more future-proof approach.

                        Alex
