Connecting External LiDAR Sensor

Hi,
I would like to connect a Unitree LiDAR L1 to the VOXL2 Sentinel to use the LiDAR's data instead of the stereo camera system. The main goal would be to pipe this data to voxl-mapper for autonomous path planning. Has anybody done anything similar to this or is there a way to adapt the LiDAR as a TOF sensor?
