Hello ModalAI team, I'm HaeSu, Jung

I am planning to purchase a Starling 2 Max for an autonomous docking/streaming project in South Korea, and I have a few pre-sales questions.

    1. Pre-integrated cellular modem
Is it possible to order a Starling 2 Max with a cellular modem add-on (e.g., M0090 5G carrier board or M0130-3 LTE add-on) pre-installed and configured at the factory? If so, could you provide a quote for that configuration? If not, which base radio configuration (WiFi + ELRS, etc.) would you recommend so that I can install the cellular add-on myself without conflicts on the board-to-board connector?

    2. LTE/5G operation in South Korea
Which modem option do you recommend for South Korean carriers (SKT / KT / LG U+)? For reference, Korean networks primarily use LTE bands B1 / B3 / B5 / B7 / B8 and 5G NR n78. My understanding is that the V1 LTE add-on covers North American bands only, so I would like to confirm whether the M0090 with the Quectel RM502Q-AE (or Sierra EM9291), or a V2 LTE add-on with an appropriate Sierra WP module, would be the right choice for Korea — and whether that variant can be ordered directly.

    3. External camera payload (OpenMV N6)
I plan to mount an OpenMV N6 camera board on the underside of the drone as a dedicated landing-vision payload (it will send detection data to VOXL 2, e.g., over UART or USB, and needs a 5V supply at roughly 1 W).

    • Does the Starling 2 Max expose spare connectors/pins (5V power + UART or USB) that I can use for this payload as shipped?
    • Or do I need to purchase a separate expansion/breakout board? If so, which one would you recommend, considering that the cellular modem add-on will already occupy the board-to-board connector?
    • Will the downward-facing tracking camera and ToF sensor placement leave room to mount a small camera (approx. 45 x 35 x 30 mm) on the belly without obstruction?

Shipping destination would be South Korea. Any guidance on lead time and export requirements would also be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    HaeSu, Jung
