Autonomy: VIO, Mapping and Navigation.
-
Hello ModalAI Team,
We are currently evaluating the Starling 2 Max for an autonomous inventory project in a warehouse.
Our objective is to have the drone navigate autonomously between predefined waypoints, detect and avoid obstacles such as shelves or other objects, and then replan its path and continue toward its destination without human intervention.
Could you please clarify the following points?
LiDAR integration: Can an external LiDAR be integrated with the Starling 2 Max and used for autonomous navigation?
Obstacle avoidance: Does the current VOXL SDK support obstacle avoidance using LiDAR data?
Path replanning: If an obstacle blocks the planned path, can the drone calculate an alternative route automatically?
Mission continuation: After avoiding an obstacle, can the drone continue toward the next waypoint and complete its mission autonomously?
Software requirements: Are these capabilities available in a supported configuration, or would custom development using ROS 2, PX4, or the VOXL SDK be required?
Demonstration: Do you have a working example, video, or technical documentation demonstrating these capabilities on the Starling 2 Max?
We are currently evaluating the hardware and software before selecting a solution for our project. We would appreciate your technical recommendations.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
