VOXL 2 Cant bind to ERLS or DSMX
-
So I have been using a betafpv nano 915Mhz ELRS with the VOXL 2 for while now and all of the sudden it randomly unbound from my transmitter and wont bind again. Im using it on the J19 connector for VOXL 2. When using the voxl-elrs wizard I am able to read the firmware, flash new firmware, and also put it in binding mode (supposedly) as the lights are blinking on the receiver in the binding mode fashion. Not really sure what went wrong there.
Now I am just trying to test a backup Spektrum DSMX receiver I have and it wont work either. Its getting power and is connected as per the tech docs. When I try qrb5165-bind I get
voxl2:/$ qrb5165-bind -s -d Enabling debug mode Writing 1259 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1259 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1259 Writing 1259 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1259 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1259 Writing 1259 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1259 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1259 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 number of pulses: 7 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing 0 to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/value for gpio pin 1146 Writing 1146 to /sys/class/gpio/export for gpio pin 1146 Writing in to /sys/class/gpio/gpio%d/direction for gpio pin 1146 read 0 from gpio pin 1146 An orange light should now be flashing on your receiver If so, your receiver is successfully in binding mode voxl2:/$
I am not able to get any lights on the DSMX to come on. It does however turn on and bind when connected to the FCv2 to test it.
As for the ELRS receiver I tried reflashing it with the current firmware, as well as my transmitter. I am starting to thing something may be wrong with the VOXL 2 J19 but cant determine how. Any help is appreciated in debugging these issues as I just need to connect a transmitter somehow. Is there a way to test if J19 is sending and receiving signal correctly?

@Gary-Holmgren What transmitter are you trying to bind to the ELRS receiver?
Is it capable of ELRS at 915MHz?
-
@tom Yes I am using a radiomaster zorro multi-protocol with a radiomaster bandit nano 915MHz RF module attached. It had been bound and working fine for a few weeks. I noticed a couple times it disconnected and reconnected, the transmitter did say "RF signal low" a few times when it was right next to the receiver. Then all of the sudden it disconnected and would not bind again.
-
@tom Also wanted to mention that I have a VL53L1X distance sensor and an m10 micro GPS attached to j19 which both work. I did notice the ELRS getting pretty warm to the touch.

@tom Still getting errors unfortunately, I purchased a brand new betafp nano 915MHz receiver and a brand new 915MHz compatible transmitter still nothing.

@Gary-Holmgren I managed to finally get it working after flashing a few times with the web portal when the receiver and transmitter were in WiFi mode. It helped to connect instantaneously after flashing when making a binding phrase on both the receiver and transmitter.
