Connect to 5G Drone Without Cellular Connection on Host Laptop?
-
The user guide for the Qualcomm Flight RB5 states that to connect the host laptop running QGC to the drone, while it is on the 5G network, you need to also connect the host laptop to a cellular network.
I don't understand why this is the case. If both the host laptop and the drone are connected to a VPN service, is it not possible to control the drone while it is on the 5G network from a laptop that is connected to a standard Wi-Fi network?
Is there not a way to control the drone when the laptop is on Wi-Fi but the drone is on a cellular network?

@doe43john77 You're right, that isn't the case. That doc is a bit outdated (we're going through a massive overhaul of the docs at the moment that will be live in a few weeks)
As long as both devices are connected to the same VPN it would work just fine. So you absolutely could have your host machine connected to the internet via. wifi / ethernet as long as it then connects to said VPN
