although this is a general question for voxl sdk since i'm using it with starlings i'm wondering whether there's any limitation (or has anybody tested) for the FW version of the ELRS controller with the latest voxl2 sdk? meaning the latest release of the ELRS FW is 3.5.5, my iflight commando is flashed with a custom modalai v2.8.5, and i'm wondering if anybody tested with 3.5.x FW....?

@Viktor-Gal ELRS maintains compatibility between all versions with the same major version number, so a 3.x.x receiver is compatible with any 3.x.x transmitter; however, a 3.x.x receiver is not compatible with a 2.x transmitter. Because of this, you will need to update the transmitter in your handset. You can use the upstream ELRS firmware for this since we don't make any modifications to the firmware for the iFlight Commando, instructions are here. I suggest using the latest firmware version available, you can flash older firmware later if necessary. All customization and ModalAI provided models on the handset will persist through this process.

@Maxwell-Schaefer thnx for getting back to me. i've seen that on starling the betafpv module is currently having 3.2.1.2. are you using any specific customiziation? i'm just wondering as the mavlink-rc support requires 3.5.0 or later.

@Viktor-Gal @Maxwell-Schaefer Thanks for the question! I would also like to know if we can upgrade the Receiver firmware to 3.5.X and still use it with the VOXL2 flightcontroller.

@wifa799 @Viktor-Gal You can use any CRSF (ELRS) receiver with the VOXL 2 and it will work. While we don't support flashing upstream builds of ELRS from the VOXL, if you update it yourself it will work without requiring any additional modification or patches. The patches from ModalAI just include some extra utilities for managing the receiver with the voxl-elrs tool such as the "unbind" command and pwm configuration from the VOXL. I'll see if I can provide a build for the betafpv receiver which matches the 3.5.3 version provided for our in-house M0184 receivers, but in the meantime you can definitely use firmware from the upstream ELRS repo.
