Color Stereo Sensors

Starting some prototyping with a VOXL CAM and we are looking into options for upgraded sensors, mostly to bring the option of color FMV without the need for an additional sensor over USB.
Are there compatible hi-res stereo cameras readily available? For example, the OV9782 could be "dropped in" to the MFPC-M0010 Stereo Cable?
I would imagine this would require some work in the DFS Server and probably some other areas to get working as well to account for the change of resolution and flip back to B/W for the current kernels used to perform depth processing? Just want to make sure I am on the right path.
