VOXL 2 IMU gravity "measurement"

Hello,
We are implementing custom estimation algorithms on the VOXL 2 and need an accelerometer measurement that does not include gravity.
A navigation expert on our team suggested that it is typical for gravity to be added to the accelerometer measurement in software. Is this the case? If so, where can I find this?
Also, in voxl-inspect-imu, is the value in the "gravity" column equal to the norm of the accelerometer readings?
Any advice on how to remove gravity from the accelerometer measurement is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
