    • Qvio recovery after blowups taking too long

      Hey,
While flying in altitude of around 7 meters or less, I see that if the VIO fails and restarts itself. It enters a loop that can take for long minutes of endless resets. Mostly when the drone is continuing to move( The velocity is less than 5m/sec).
The error codes that show during those resets are:
      ERROR_CODE_VEL_INST_CERT (the most common error),
      ERROR_CODE_VEL_WINDOW_CERT (the second common error),,
      ERROR_CODE_BAD_CAM_CAL,
      ERROR_CODE_CONSTRAINT,
      ERROR_CODE_LOW_FEATURES.

Are there any parameters that I can play with to prevent this situation?

    • Calibrating tracking camera doesn't work

Hey, I have some focus issues with my tracking camera, I'm trying to use the voxl-calibrate-camera tracking. But it constantly crashes the camera server for some reason although it succeeded in tracking the chessboard, The command I'm running is: voxl-calibrate-camera tracking -f -s 6x9 -l 0.025.

What am I doing wrong here?

    • Setting new position after reseting the VIO

Hey, according to https://docs.modalai.com/voxl-qvio-server/#resetting-vio, there should be an option to "reset VIO to a new local coordinate frame centered at the drone’s new location". I didn't find any option like this in the voxl-reset-qvio options, it's always resets to origin of (0, 0 ,0). is it going to be a feature in the future?

BTW, I saw that at high altitude(above 15 meters) the VIO find it hard to maintain stability, and blows-up the Kalman very quickly, also it can't be recovered from the blow up till the altitude is below 15 meters (Quality becomes really poor). do you have any recommendations for flying in those altitudes and maintaining the stability of the VIO?

    • RE: QVIO after breakdowns returns bad

Yes, I have reviewed it. I observed through voxl-inspect-vibration that there is a significant amount of noise in the IMU (indicated by the red color). As a solution, I replaced the dampers, which helped to some extent. However, these phenomena still occur. Most of the IMU values are indicated in yellow color. Could this be the possible cause?

I noticed this information in the seeker drone spec, so I understand that you were referring to flying with GPS. In that case, what is the maximum height at which the QVIO can fly and still maintain stability?

    • QVIO after breakdowns returns bad

After a few tests with the QVIO, I saw numerous times that when it breaks (quality is equal -1), after the hard reset, the QVIO velocity output is incorrect and diverges very quickly, and then resets the QVIO for a couple of times.
I see this behavior more frequently when I fly outdoors above 15 meters, even in slight maneuvers.
Am I missing something? according to the spec the QVIO should be working up to 122 [m] above the ground.
