Starling 2 Max position mode roll and pitch do nothing

Hi,
I have a Starling 2 Max drone and when it is in position mode and in the air, the joystick roll and pitch do nothing. Is that normal?
In position mode, the joystick thrust and yaw work as expected. I have confirmed with MavLink inspector and using a linux command that the drone is receiving the joystick roll and pitch positions correctly.
In manual mode, the joystick roll and pitch work as expected which is great!
