Compatibility of VOXL 2 with external autopilots?

I am looking to purchase a VOXL 2 dev kit but I am curious about its compatibility with my current build. I am using a CUAV autopilot and am trying to integrate SLAM capability, Would the VOXL 2 kit be compatible with other autopilots as a peripheral system? What is the ideal protocol to pair the voxl2 as an external system to a separate autopilot?
