# Companion computer to VOXL 2 over UART

Might be a dumb question, we have a VOXL 2 hooked up to a doodle labs radio using this expansion board https://www.modalai.com/collections/expansion-board/products/m0125?variant=47083939791152. It has an open UART connector. Is it possible to add a companion computer to the LAN network by hooking up ethernet -> usb -> uart port? Or do we absolutely need to get this expansion board https://www.modalai.com/collections/expansion-board/products/m0062-2. I can't seem to find anything in the docs about this

@jonathankampia You could run UART based comms like an external flight controller on that UART: https://docs.modalai.com/voxl2-external-flight-controller/

but no you couldn't connect a USB device there
