# Cooling fan for Voxl cam on board

Hello,
Does Voxl cam need a cooling fan when we use it on a drone? or is it fine to use without the fan?

You should use a fan with VOXL Cam if it is powered on in a static state, for example, if it is in use while sitting at your desk. To make this easy, we sell a Desktop Cooling Caddy [Here](https://www.modalai.com/products/voxl-cam-desktop-caddy) 

If being used on an actively flying drone, you don't need a fan: the circulating air is enough to keep it cool.
